Super Oreo Ice Cream Cake

 

 

 

1 pkg chocolate cake mix

1 L cookies N, cream ice cream

12 oz frozen whipped topping

16 Oreo cookies

 

 

Preheat oven, prepare cake mix and bake in 2 (8 inch)

round cake pans according to package directions.

Soften ice cream in refrigerator for 15 minutes. Transfer

to bowl and stir until spreadable but not melting. Place

1 cooled cake layer on freezer proof serving platter.

Spread with ice cream leaving ¼ inch around edge

uncovered. Wrap and freeze 20 minutes. Top with remaining

cake layer. freeze until firm, about 1 hour. spread top and

sides of cake with a thin layer.(about 1 ½ cups) thawed whipped

topping. Transfer remaining ¾ cup whipped topping to pastry

bag fitted with large star tip. Set aside. With a small knife

separate 8 Oreos leaving the filling intact. Cut each circle in

half. Press cookie halves into topping all around top and bottom

edges of cake. Cut remaining cookies into quarters. Using pastry

bag, pipe rosettes around top edge of cake. Garnish top with

cookie quarters. Freeze until ready to serve. Let stand at room

temperature 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

 

 

  • Helpful Hint: If ice cream starts to melt while spreading it 

                             on the cake, put back into the freezer for 5

                                  minutes.
