Miles Logan (Martin Lawrence) is a jewel thief working with a couple of partners on a great heist. Unfortunately one of his accomplices Deacon (Peter Greene) wants the diamond for himself and double crosses him. Before Logan is arrested he manages to hide the diamond safely in a construction site. Two years later when Logan gets out of jail he goes to the site where he hid the diamond only to discover that it is the new home of the LAPD. Logan hatches a plan to infiltrate the police and get back his diamond. Along the way he gets trouble from his old partner in crime Tulley (Dave Chappelle), as well as his new 'partner' in the police force Carlson (Luke Wilson). When Deacon reappears hoping once again to get the diamond, Logan has a lot of people to outwit and outsmart in order to get the diamond for himself.
