Mark Sway (Brad Renfro) is simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. When he and his little brother sneak into the woods to smoke cigarettes, they come upon a man sitting in a car. Mark finds himself forced into the car and listening to stories that this attorney has learned from being a crime syndicate lawyer. Mark finally is able to escape dragging his brother behind when the lawyer commits suicide. Soon, the FBI and mafia both are after the boys as they believe that the lawyer has told Mark things that he can't be allow to know. The FBI wants him for their investigation and the mafia just wants him dead. Mark meets up with the one person that might be able to save him, Ms. Reggie Love (Susan Sarandon). Between the two of them, they fight to keep Mark and his family safe while trying to unravel the things the dead lawyer told Mark so hopefully they can get the Mafia off his back as well. Hopefully Reggie will be able to save her client before she breaks down herself.
