Set in the 1960s, Dead Presidents is the story of Anthony Curtis (Larenz Tate), a college-bound black teenager who changes his mind and instead enlists in the Army to fight in Vietnam. His high school friends Skip (Chris Tucker) and Jose (Freddy Rodriguez) also enlist, and the three experience the horrors of war. When they return home to New York City four years later, they have difficulty finding jobs and adapting to ordinary life. Together with Anthony’s Uncle Kirby (Keith David), they carry out a robbery in which they steal old bills on their way to be destroyed by the U. S. Mint.
