Two past their prime boxers are trying to regain their glory. Cesar Dominguez (Antonio Banderas) and Vince Boudreau (Woody Harrelson) were close to the top of their game, but fell quickly. They are now friends in an LA gym keeping their professional boxing dreams alive. Meanwhile, boxing promoter Joe Domino (Tom Sizemore) has a sold out crowd and needs two boxers fast. Dominguez and Boudreau will fight each other, but negotiate conditions: the fight must be sanctioned and titled. Ceasar’s girlfriend, Grace Pasic (Lolita Davidovich), an entrepenuer, Vinnie's ex girlfriend, and the only one with a car, makes it a threesome. While on the road we see their lost boxing paths, their romantic urges, and Vince’s “religious” transformations. The competition starts early as they fight for Grace, their identities, the title, and the money. Mix in Lia (Lucy Lui) a sexually charged hitchhiker, and the fists fly. As they arrive in Vegas just in time, Grace is no longer dating either of them, the men are not friendly, and the fight is on. The audience was expecting a quick bout, but they got a 10 round, mesmerizing, bloody brawl. In the end their friendship was the only thing left standing.
