A Thin Line Between Love and Hate (1996) is a film showing just how thin and dangerous that line can be. It explores the world and relationships of Darnell (Martin Lawrence), a nightclub promoter. Those relationships include his family and friends, plus various girlfriends. Darnell may show love and respect to those closest to him but he is a "player" to women and shuffles them in and then out of his life. He meets an alluring woman named Brandi (Lynn Whitfield) who refuses to go quietly. When he spurns her, she sets out to make his life a living hell, literally. The film works up to a final confrontation between Darnell and Brandi.
