This movie is a martial arts movie with a difference. Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as ‘Chris’ who is a 1930s villain and is on the run from the law and is sold into slavery by criminals and kidnapped by bandits. From New York, Chris finds himself in East Asia. The movie is set in Thailand and against a backdrop of fabulous and beautiful scenery. Lord Edgar (played by Roger Moore) represents the finer lifestyle of the colonies but he is also a link to the darker side of colonial life and its criminality and Lord Edgar sells Chris to Mutai Island criminals. Chris is bidden to take part in a fight tournament to win the Golden Dragon. Chris and other fighters from around the globe work their way through the tournament with different fighting styles at each stage of the tournament. The fighting scenes are extensive and action packed and because of the different styles of fighting the viewer’s interest is maintained right through to the tournament final.
