When his brother is murdered in Los Angeles in the aftermath of a drug deal gone bad, Lyon Gaultier (Jean-Claude Van Damme) deserts the French Foreign Legion (FFL), returns to America via New York and becomes a contender in illegal, clandestine, unregulated, bare-knuckle fighting to earn money to aid his widowed sister-in-law, Helene Gaultier (Lisa Pelikan) and her daughter, his niece, Nicole Gaultier (Ashley Johnson). In addition to the opponents he faces in the ring, he is soon in conflict with or being hunted by: Cynthia (Deborah Rennard) the fight organizer and a pair of bounty hunters from the FFL.
