Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is haunted by the brutal rape and murder of her mother when a strange new killer appears in town. The killer begins with some school mates Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore) and Steve Orth, he calls on the phone and messes with them before going in for the kill. Next he goes after Sidney, while wearing his crazy Ghostface costume, that looks like a screaming ghost. After the attack Sidney blames her boyfriend Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich), but he is exonerated by a phone call from the killer while he is in prison. Staying with her friend Tatum Riley (Rose Mcgowan) and her brother Dwight (David Arquette), Sidney must not only deal with these attacks but also the persistent scandalization of her story by tabloid newswoman Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox). When Sidney's friends all plan a party at Tatum's house, things quickly degenerate into a bloodbath and it won't be until morning before we know whether or not Sidney and any of her friends survive.
