The new kid in town is Mark Hunter (Christian Slater). He is kind of shy, but very intelligent. His parents get him a short wave radio so that he can talk to his friends back home. Instead, he uses the device to make a pirate radio station in his basement. His deejay persona, “Hard Harry” is an immediate hit with the teens at his high school. His rants inspire them all, much to the chagrin of his principal. The principal and the sheriff join a hunt for the mysterious deejay. Mark has also started to fall for Nora Diniro (Samantha Mathis), but he can’t use his secret fame to get her. One day, there is a tragedy involving one of Mark’s listeners and chaos results at the high school. Now the search for Hard Harry is getting even more dangerous and Mark has to set things right before it is too late.
