Michael (Walter Slezak) is a model for famed artist Claude Zoret (Benjamin Christensen). When Zoret falls in love with him, he invites him to live as partners in his home. For a time the two are happy, but Zoret is far older than Michael and as age takes it's toll, Michael drifts from him. Bankrupt and unscrupulous Princess Lucia Zamikoff (Nora Gregory) comes into their lives, at first to swindle Zoret, but soon she seduces Michael away from the artist as the younger man's own art status rises while Zoret's falls.
