A young Tennessee lawyer, Rudy Baylor (Matt Damon) fresh out of college takes the case of his life in this movie which turns his life around. A big insurance company tries to shy away from the responsibility of paying for the care of a young man diagnosed with leukemia. The family then decides to hire a lawyer. Rudy takes on this client in his first case after the head of his law office, Deck Shifflet (Danny DeVito) has to hide because he is wanted. He overcomes many obstacles inside and outside the courtroom as he attempts to find out what it means to be a lawyer and how far one has to go before becoming a successful lawyer. Rudy also opens his own office in the process and ultimately wins a tough case.
